Touch of home: Former resident adopts local pet

SHOW LOW - Love at first sight does exist. At least, it does for Scott Simons. A former resident of the White Mountains now living in Pittsburgh, he received a subscription to the White Mountain Independent as a Valentine's Day present from his fiance. Flipping through the classified section, he saw a picture of an adorable black lab/greyhound/cattle dog mix named Shadow.

To Simons, there was no question he wanted the dog. And on March 31, Shadow officially became a part of his family.
