Pet Allies | Pet Allies offers Spay/NeuterServices, Foster Care and Adoption Services to needy pets, located in the White Mountains of ArizonaFeral Cat ProgramFeral Cat colonies can be managed and supported in order to have the best lives possible by volunteer caregivers. It is important to contain the colony by trapping all the cats in humane live traps, having them spayed or neutered, and then returning them to the colony. This philosophy is the TNR (Trap, Neuter & Return) Program. This program is used across the United States with a high degree of success. It has been proven if cats are totally eradicated from an area other cats will move back into the same area because of opportunities for food and shelter. Once a Feral colony is established they will protect their territory and typically not allow other cats to enter. This is a multi-step process. First, the caregiver tries to estimate the number of cats in the colony, their sex and age. Pet Allies is contacted and a plan is formed. Caregivers must agree to continue to supplement food for the colony for two years to be accepted into our program. The plan includes: Finding the appropriate Pet Allies volunteer to issue and track traps loaned Notifying the chosen veterinarian that trapping will be taking place Furnishing paperwork to the veterinarian by Pet Allies regarding payment for services A caregiver agreement is completed and the trapping process begins Pet Allies requires the caregiver to pay $15 for male cats and $20 for female cats toward their spay and neuter surgery. We will pay the balance for spay and neuter services. If you are interested in being a caregiver, if you can assist a caregiver with trapping and transport, if you can feed a colony, please contact Pet Allies at 532-1602 or fostering@petalliesaz.org.
